Kansas City Chiefs fans have plenty to celebrate. The reigning Super Bowl Champions won the opening night game against Houston. There were fans in the stadium! And everybody’s favourite superstar Patrick Mahomes recently proposed to his longtime sweetheart Brittany Matthews. So as a KC native, a Chiefs fan, and a travel advisor, it got me thinking – where should Brittany Matthews and Patrick Mahomes honeymoon? They’ve got the means to go anywhere they want, for as long as they want. The wheels are spinning and I’m dreaming up amazing ideas for them. Let’s hope they have an excellent travel advisor!
Where Should Brittany Matthews and Patrick Mahomes Honeymoon?
First of all, when will they travel? Dates are important, especially when looking at shoulder or peak season in Europe. They’re probably looking at a post-season wedding and honeymoon. April? May? Maybe summer on the Riviera or Amalfi Coast. Or perhaps a pre-season getaway to a safari camp to watch the Great Migration. And what do Brittany and Patrick like to do in their spare time? Because everything I do is custom-designed for clients and their wants, wishes, and needs, it’s important that I know the vision for the trip and their expectations. The list below for where Brittany Matthews and Patrick Mahomes honeymoon is just a sampling of some of the many wonderful places they can go.
Like I said, the ideas are swirling in my head.
Royal Davui Island
This private island in Fiji’s Beqa Lagoon hosts only 32 guests at a time. All 16 vales (Fijian bungalows) at Royal Davui Island Resort come with a private deck and plunge pool. The 10 acre adults-only, all-inclusive property means privacy and intimacy with a side of adventure. Patrick and Brittany can go snorkelling, diving, kayaking, or simply walking along the beach. They can partake in a traditional kava ceremony or stargaze from their bathtub with the retractable roof.
Travel advisor tip: Fiji pairs well with Australia or New Zealand! Begin with the more active part of the trip – wineries in Australia’s Hunter Valley or New Zealand’s Central Otago, ziplining through Queensland or bungy jumping in Queenstown, before hopping over to Fiji for a week of rest and relaxation.
An African Safari
An African safari would be a great honeymoon for Brittany and Patrick! Whether they’re interested in the eastern African migration in Kenya and Tanzania, the winelands and Big Five in South Africa, or trekking the gorillas in Rwanda and Uganda, you know it’ll be epic. There are a number of lodges that can be made totally private, where they can enjoy open safari lands and game drives with the local guides. In South Africa, the Winelands make for a wonderful stop either before or after the safari, or a day trip from Cape Town. And in Cape Town they can either enjoy panoramic views of the city from The Silo Hotel or sweeping vistas of the Southern Ocean from The Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa.
Travel advisor tip: Make time for Mozambique. This coastal country boasts stunning white sand beaches and gloriously clear turquoise waters. It is the perfect place to rejuvenate after an action-packed safari.
New Zealand
You didn’t think I’d let this one, go did you? New Zealand is THE perfect honeymoon spot. There’s wine, food, beautiful lodges in gobsmackingly beautiful locations, and adventure. Patrick and Brittany can helicopter from their international flight to Waiheke Island, drive fast cars through the Lindis Pass, go wine tasting on top of a mountain, and sleep in six-star splendor at Eagle’s Nest, Wharekauhau, Blanket Bay, or Fiordland Lodge.
Travel advisor tip: Slow down. New Zealand is bigger than it looks. The time it takes to get from point A to point B can take a while, so don’t rush exploring this gem of a country.
Best Time to Go: December to March is summer in New Zealand, but February marks the Chinese New Year and most Kiwis take their holidays in late December to mid-January. Go October – early December for fewer crowds and nice spring weather, or March to May for fall weather. Winter is a great time to go if you’re a winter sports fan.

Southern Italy
It’s no secret that I am a big fan of going off the beaten path to undiscovered places. Italy is a perennial favourite and the world’s top travel destination. It’s also a very romantic place! But rather than the usual Rome-Florence-Venice or Amalfi-Rome-Florence, I suggest Puglia and Basilicata. Brittany and Patrick can rent out Palazzo Margherita in Basilicata – a Francis Ford Coppola property – or take a villa at Borgo Egnazia. They can spend their days tasting the sun-soaked flavours of Southern Italian cuisine or exploring the fascinating cultures of Matera, Locorotondo, and Alberobello. They’ll round out the trip with leisure time on the Amalfi Coast in Positano, Amalfi, Sorrento, or Ravello.
Travel advisor tip: Pair Southern Italy with Emilio Romagna or Umbria for a taste of Tuscany without the crowds.
Istanbul and Yachting in the Med
Istanbul is such a gorgeous destination. It deserves a few days to experience everything, from the history and heritage to the culinary and modern art scene. And like so many other European and Asian locales, Istanbul has quite the party scene. Not sure its as good as the P&L on Super Bowl Sunday but it’ll do. 😉 From Istanbul, Patrick and Brittany can fly to Bodrum where they’ll board a luxury yacht. The many coves and islands of the Ionian coast make for a diverse and inviting honeymoon.
Stopover in Dubai or and head on to Six Senses Zighy Bay. I can just picture them hangliding over the coastline here. What an extraordinary end to a honeymoon.
Southeast Asia
While traditionally we think of Southeast Asia as backpacker paradise, there are some absolutely stunning hotels here. Brittany and Patrick can participate in unique experiences like dining with locals in fishing villages, touring temples, taking care of elephants at the sanctuaries, or spending the night on a boat in any one of the famous bays. A honeymoon through Southeast Asia can be economical as well as adventurous – from Thailand to Cambodia to Vietnam and Laos. Add in Singapore for a bit of Crazy Rich Asians fun.
Travel advisor tip: Bookend this trip with time in Bali, or Dubai, depending on the route you fly.
Expedition Adventures
I’m all about the unexpected so I’m going end with suggesting that Brittany Matthews and Patrick Mahomes honeymoon on a really epic expedition adventure. Whether that’s taking to the high seas aboard one of the National Geographic Lindblad Expeditions ships or getting face to face with a polar bear in Churchill, Canada with Nat Hab, its sure to be one heckuva honeymoon.
Brittany Matthews and Patrick Mahomes Honeymoon – All About Them
There are so many amazing honeymoon destinations out there. I’m sure that wherever Brittany Matthews and Patrick Mahomes honeymoon, it’ll be romantic, private, and 100% them.
