the department of transportation just released an updated guide to its 1973 booklet, “fly rights.” this isn’t the tsa’s booklet, but it does give you relevant information on what to do if your flight is canceled, if your flight sits on the tarmac for five hours, and what your rights are if the airline loses your luggage (or if it is delayed; these are two different scenarios in airline speak).
in addition to the situations described above, the guide also gives advice on air fares, ticketing and frequent flier programs. whether you fly frequently on business or occasionally for leisure, it’s important to know your rights.
