one of the very few things i ever learned how to make was stir fry. i used to make it in college and eat the leftovers for days. i’m staying at my parents for a few days with my younger brother and when i asked him what he wanted for dinner, he said stir fry. it’s a really great summer dish because of all of the fresh veggies you can buy to add to it.
recipe: stir fry
half a bag of frozen shrimp
sliced beef (i bought a specially packaged for stir fry thing at the grocery store… i’m sure it’s not uncommon)
whatever veggies you want… i use broccoli, red, green and yellow peppers, mushrooms, carrots and pineapple (i know that’s not a veggie…)
kikkoman’s stir fry sauce
1 cup white rice
boil the rice, thaw and peel the shrimp, slice the veggies and brown your meat. this can all happen at once if you have multiple people or can multitask. set the meat aside and begin to cook the veggies and shrimp. this will take the longest amount of time, so after about 5 minutes, add your bottle of stir fry sauce. let the veggies simmer in it and then add the beef back in.
after 3-4 minutes, turn off the heat, put rice into a bowl and top with the veggies and meat. serve hot. this dish easily serves 4-6 people, so it’s perfect for a family.
