Can you believe we are already in October?!? The year has gone by so fast, but there’s still a few more months to go and I’ve got a lot going on. What’s happening in my world? I’ve been learning a lot – there’s always something new to learn! – and working on some pretty awesome itineraries for clients. So, I decided to write up a little update for the month, keeping you appraised on what’s happening at my desk and beyond…
client travel
I absolutely love it when I send clients to a new destination and this year has been full of them. Back in May, clients jetted off to Asia, where they spent time in South Korea and China before meeting the elephants in Thailand. They loved every second of the trip and it was fantastic to work with them! Earlier this month, I had clients on a similar trip – Seoul and Hong Kong – which was very culture and foodie focused. I’m also currently working on an AWESOME Southeast Asia itinerary. It includes cruising in Halong Bay, Vietnam, Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and Angkor Wat, Cambodia. How fun! It makes me want to pack my bags and back to Southeast Asia for some sun, but maybe I’m just over all the rain here!
I also recently had clients in Vienna, Austria and Rome, Italy. They travelled to see the Lippizaner horses at the Spanish Riding School, but they also hired a car and went to the stud farm at Piber. They had a great trip!
As you’re aware I’m a New Zealand Gold Specialist and have some incredible supplier partners that I work with. I’m also an Aussie Specialist, and most of my clients love to combine New Zealand and Australia. I’m pleased to share that I’m currently working on three big New Zealand itineraries for this upcoming spring. They’re all heavily nature focused — plenty of outdoor activities like hiking, caving, and scuba diving — but there’s a big cultural component to these as well. I’m thrilled to share New Zealand with my clients, as it’s one of my most favourite places.
what’s new?
If you missed my big post about Virtuoso Travel Week, you can read it here. It was a whirlwind week but great to see all of my friends and partners from around the globe. Following that, it was back home for a bit to rest and relax, sift through the business cards, and compose handwritten notes to everyone who hosted me. I took a short vacation at Labour Day, when I spent a week on Outer Banks with some friends. We got lucky with the weather and were out before the hurricane.
I’m putting the finishing touches on a few personal itineraries. I’ll be sharing those trips soon. I’ve also spent about thirty hours this month on webinars and continuing education modules. It’s always so important to stay up to date with the latest from our supplier partners and partner hotels. Recently, Lindblad Expeditions showcased their new expedition ship, the National Geographic Endurance. They hosted an online live press conference to introduce it and some of its highlights. (Did you see my Instagram story?) I have to tell you, I’m SO excited about this ship. I can’t wait to share some of the cool itineraries and destinations they’re going to cruise to.
