it always amazes me to see humpbacks breaching. with what looks like the greatest of ease, they launch their enormous bodies out of the water, writhing and twisting, their pectorals spread. then they seem to hang, suspended in time for the briefest of seconds, before they splash back into the water. if there’s only one thing i’m allowed to miss about alaska, it’s the whales.
