one of my favourite places in the world is alaska. i was lucky enough to spend the last three years there, working on a small expedition ship, and it’s one of the places i miss terribly now that i’m not working for them anymore. ford’s terror is located in tracy arm wilderness area and has been protected since 1980. it’s not a place we went often, as the tides make it tricky to get in, but once you’re there… oh my. the glacial retreat carved the narrow, winding passageways. the mountains rise up on either side of you and waterfalls tumble down the cliff faces into the frigid waters. sitka spruce tower above, finding a narrow foothold in the rocks. it’s impressive and awe-inspiring all at once.
